King of the Streets

A touching note taped to a fence on City Road, Chippendale.



I think this is Tiger, a very confident fellow we'd see now and again around the corner of City Road and Myrtle Street. He'd always engage in a bit of stop'n'chat but was never overly keen for a scratch, though he'd always accept. I remember him once sprawled out on the footpath blissed out in the sun, oblivious to the pedestrians stepping around him, and the six lanes of roaring traffic metres from his little fuzzy head.

Hail the King

We took a walk down Kirribilli way to see if Julia Gillard was home and met King Solomon the cat instead. Yes, that's his real name. He likes a pat and a bit of a dribble. Don't we all?

A hike over Sydney Harbour Bridge, a visit to Kirribilli markets, a waddle down to the Prime Minister's house, then back along the shoreline to have a beer overlooking the harbour at Luna Park. Killer walk.

Fencesitter

Miss Pixel J. Pussycat of Enmore will call with an anxious high pitched "meow meow meow" from her safety perch on a pergola. She will run then leap down onto the fence like it's a matter of life and death, and demand a scratch. When your patting arm tires she will do the scratching herself, doing a full twisting pussycat body rub precariously balanced on top of the fence. She's a bit of a neighbourhood favourite.
